Samsung Electronics Launches 800GB Z-SSD for AI and IoT Applications
Samsung has launched a new solid land storage bulldoze chosen SZ985. It is an 800GB Z-SSD and is targeted towards the most avant-garde enterprise applications including supercomputing. Information technology is as well the visitor's showtime Z-SSD product.
The new SSD uses an improved wink applied science chosen Z-NAND memory. It is a high-performance enterprise NVMe SSD, and it directly competes with Intel'due south 3D XPoint-powered Optane SSDs.
According to Samsung, their new SSDs offer five times less latency than of conventional NVMe SSDs, and an effective storage solution, high-speed cache data, and logs data processing. These new SSDs also have ten times college cell read performance than 3-fleck V-NAND and comprise a high-performance controller and 1.5GB LPDDR4 DRAM.
Although Samsung's offset SZ985 Z- SSD has the ability to deliver upward to 750k random read IOPS, its write performance is capped at just 170k random write IOPS, which is not that impressive.
Jinman Han, senior vice president, Memory Product Planning & Awarding Engineering at Samsung Electronics, said, "With our leading-edge 800GB Z-SSD, we look to contribute significantly to marketplace introductions of next-generation supercomputing systems in the about future, enabling improved IT investment efficiency and infrequent performance. We volition continue to develop next-generation Z-SSDs with higher density and greater product competitiveness, in order to lead the industry in accelerating the growth of the premium SSD marketplace."
And lastly, although we don't have a launch engagement for the new SSDs, we do know that Samsung will present the Z-SSD SZ985 at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference next month. So, be sure to stay tuned for more info on this.
