Our Verdict
FastestVPN is much faster than the last time we tested IT. The service is very affordable, allows busy 10 simultaneous connections, and its privacy policy says it won't log your online activity. The desktop app on Windows is fresh revamped and very good. Overall it's a fine pick for those sounding for an affordable root.
FastestVPN in brief:
- P2P allowed: Yes
- Business location: Cayman Islands
- Number of servers: 250+
- Number of res publica locations: 30
- Cost: $30 each year
- VPN communications protocol: IKEv2
- Information encryption: AES-256-GCM
- Data authentication: MS-Gent v2 and TLS
- Handshake: SHA-II
Last time we looked at FastestVPN in early 2019, we weren't that impressed, and the name? Not true in our receive. What a difference a year makes. The company added new country locations, and the overall server count has gone up from 150 to 250. As for the claim IT's the quickest? The caller is more persuasive this time roughly.

Features and services
FastestVPN gave up on the single-pane design we saw high yr for a much time-honored desktop look. It nonetheless has the trademark icteric lightning slap we saw in 2019 for its connect button.
You have a left rail in with a variety of options, but the just ones you're in all likelihood to use are Home and Locations. The other cardinal (Approximately and Account) are informational.
Settings is accessible from the upper-right street corner of the home dashboard. This concealment is very corresponding to what we saw in the last version of the app. You can switch your VPN communications protocol by simply clicking on extraordinary of five buttons: IKEv2, L2TP, PPTP, TCP, and UDP. IKEv2 is the default and is the right choice for most people.
Below the VPN communications protocol options is a series of checkboxes. The Internet Kill Switch is still at that place, As is the Launch at start choice that is enabled by nonpayment. FastestVPN too added a default to reconnect if the VPN connection drops, the option to autoconnect at launch, and to diconnect the VPN connection automatically if you shut down the app.
Exit noncurrent to the default on home CRT screen you have the option to take the rural area you want to connect to, or you rear mouse click Smart Connect. This is a new feature for FastestVPN, but cardinal we've seen from some other VPNs. The basic idea is that it finds the fastest VPN waiter compared to your real location. Typically, that'll be the server that's closest to you but not always.
The app happening Windows also does ad blocking and malware trade protection. These two features are enabled by default and cannot be turned off as they are occurrent server-side. The company says information technology is able to provide ad blocking by blocking blacklisted (known ad network) domains based on the DNS requests users make. In our experience, the adver block was very effective.
FastestVPN now supports U.S. Netflix and Disney Positive streaming. To use these moving services, you crapper touch base to the United States Miami waiter. Another option is to give the settings, switch the VPN protocol to UDP, and and so you'll see an option for USA Netflix on the server list.
In our tests, the Netflix feature worked evenhanded fine, only Walter Elias Disney Addition was more problematic on the Miami host. All time we went to the splash page IT wouldn't display the "buy forthwith" options, and we couldn't log in. Disney's anti-VPN measures aren't as extensive as Netflix's, however, and switching to another U.S. server made everything compute just fine for Disney Plus.
We asked the ship's company about the issue with the Miami server, and whether the ad blocking features were preventing these buttons from displaying; the fellowship said that was outside. Nevertheless, we can't see any other reasonable explanation for information technology.
FastestVPN also plans to add Split tunneling to its Windows app, merely the feature wasn't ready for going at this writing. Split tunneling, whereby traffic can be divided between the VPN and blunt connection to cyberspace per user specification, is currently available on the Android and iOS apps.
The norm for VPN services is to offer five simultaneous connections per account. FastestVPN doubles that and allows indefinite account up to 10 device connections straight off.
Performance
Last time roughly we sawing machine FastestVPN hitting about 30 pct of the base speed, which is pretty average for a VPN service. This time close to speeds were commonly striking 45 percent of the base spee, which is really well behaved.
As usual, those results don't tell the whole story. FastestVPN's speeds were outstanding in the U.S., UK, and
Federal Republic of Germany. Our tests in Asia and Australia were inconsistent. One day, we were able to get an amazing speed score out of Singapore, but often the results in that piece of the world were unusable.
Despite that result, however, FastestVPN's separate locations were so good that it didn't drag the grudge down that much. The stacks were not good to beat the on-line swiftness champ HotSpot Harbor, but overall the restults are still very keen.
Privacy, anonymity and faith
Fastest VPN's official business location is the Cayman Islands. The company chose that location to avoid whatever Laws requiring the company to keep browsing records connected its customers. The divine service also has a business office in Los Angeles. The company CEO is Azneem Bilwani.
FastestVPN's privacy policy says IT does not log any information about its customers. The only matter the companionship keeps, IT says, is the e-mail address. The policy itself is also very slow to say, and is in writing equally a FAQ.
To sign up for an account, FastestVPN requires an email come up to. The company accepts payments via deferred payment card or PayPal.
Determination
FastestVPN is much better than it was the last time we looked. Information technology offers more servers, more locations, information technology supports streaming services, and it has a dainty repute Windows, and information technology's easy to use. FastestVPN offers enough speed for virtually routine uses, and information technology has some discriminating extra features comparable malware and ad blocking, net kill switch, and split tunneling is coming soon to Windows.
We aren't fans of exotic business locations to fend off keeping records, but at $30 for 10 connections it's well worth considering.
